The FEMME package is suitable to simulate the write process of a recording media taking into account all interactions between media, head and soft underlayer. The back interactions from the media to the write head become increasingly important for high density recording.

The basic granular media package allows for a voronoi tesselation to construct a granular recording media. In this package each grain is assumed to be a single domain particle which allows for fast computational times. The magnetization processes of thousands of grains can be simulated on a Laptop computer. Full magnetostatic and exchange interactions are taken into account.

The image above illustrates the  advanced recording media model. Each grain of the recording layer is subdicretized. Different layers with different magnetic properties can be defined.

With the integration package the complete recording process can be simulated. The interaction are taken into account as shown in the right figure. This package included a coil model. A time dependent current distribution can be defined in the head coil which is turn magnetize the yoke of the recording head. The write field is mapped onto the media.
The advanced coil packages allows for non-uniform current distributions within several coils.
The model maker package is a set of python scripts that allow for an automatic generation of media models. A large number of models can be created automatically which is useful for jitter and signal to noise (SNR) simulations.
With the exchange interactions package the coupling between different layers can be changed from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic and spin flop coupling. This package is useful if exchange biased structures are simulated.
