2025: The Year of Bridge Monitoring

Table of Contents

In addition to the proven applications of our SuessCo sensors—such as crack monitoring, residential building monitoring, and monitoring of historic infrastructure—bridge monitoring is increasingly coming into focus. Recent bridge collapses, some of them tragic, have clearly demonstrated how crucial continuous digital monitoring is for bridge safety. This newsletter offers you a direct look at the technology and the implementation of successful bridge monitoring projects using SuessCo sensors.

Wishing you every success with your projects,

Feel the pulse of the structural system – with patented sensor technology from SuessCo Sensors

Imagine a world where bridges are not only safer but also last longer!

The recent high-profile incidents of bridge damage have made one thing clear:

Continuous monitoring is essential and is already frequently required in engineering reports. With state-of-the-art SuessCo sensors, we offer seamless monitoring that detects and documents even the slightest movements and changes in six dimensions in real time. This allows necessary safety and maintenance measures to be taken at an early stage. Furthermore, digital monitoring provides a solid foundation for preventive maintenance, allowing damage to be repaired in a timely manner, extending the service life of bridges, and making their use safer.

By using SuessCo sensors, you are making a significant contribution to the safety and longevity of your infrastructure projects.

The SuessCo 6D Sensor

Discover the SuessCo 6D sensor—the only sensor that captures six dimensions without contact. It precisely detects changes in position and rotation and transmits this data wirelessly to the monitoring dashboard. Ideal for documenting movements in bridge bearings.

Key Features:

  • High accuracy and no drift
  • 6 dimensions with a single sensor
  • Built-in temperature sensor
  • Long term of 10 years
  • Robust industrial design

Case Study: SuessCo Bridge Monitoring in Practical Use

Since 2022, the Lower Austrian Bridge Construction Authority has been monitoring the Danube Bridge between Krems/Stein and Mautern using SuessCo sensors. Several SuessCo 6D sensors measure the movements of the bridge segments, while an integrated temperature sensor provides additional valuable information. In the latest SuessCo case study, we provide a practical summary of the project.
