One sensor, multiple applications

Where the XT 3D sensor is particularly useful.

Tunnel Monitoring

Convergence measurement on the tunnel segment or support shell, with multiple sensors along the tunnel axis to capture the complete deformation profile. Hourly measurements with no maintenance required.

Tunnel Monitoring

Long-term crack monitoring

During multi-year renovations of historic structures and buildings designated as cultural heritage sites, the XT 3D sensor provides a continuous data stream without requiring on-site maintenance.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the XT 3D Sensor

The XT 3D sensor uses an external battery pack instead of a built-in battery. This allows it to operate for ten years with hourly measurements. The standard 3D sensor lasts ten years with daily measurements. In addition, the XT’s housing is more compact because the battery is external.

The XT is the right choice if you need hourly measurement intervals over long periods, such as for tunnel monitoring, or if the measurement points are difficult to access and it is not possible to replace the battery during the project. For daily measurement intervals and easily accessible points, the standard 3D sensor is sufficient.

The battery box is included and is mounted near the sensor. It connects the sensor to the power supply via the cable. To activate it, simply plug in the battery cable. There is no magnet, as with the 3D sensor.

The XT transmits data wirelessly to the data hub via LTE-M and Wi-Fi. In tunnels or in areas with limited cellular coverage, it uses the internal Wi-Fi network or a gateway at the tunnel entrance.

The reference object and sensor are each secured to the component with two screws, and the external battery box is placed nearby. Activation is achieved by connecting the battery cable. No special tools or on-site technical personnel are required. Setup takes just a few minutes.

Repeatability of ±50 µm in all three spatial axes. The integrated temperature sensor achieves ±0.5 °C. Values from the October 2025 data sheet.
